Why I’m Writing This Blog at 15

By: Wirda Siddique

Introduction

I’ve been thinking a lot lately.

Not in some deep philosopher kind of way — just... normal thinking. About how things are, how people act, what we believe, and what we ignore.
Some things don’t sit right with me. And I’ve never been the kind of person who can just ignore that and move on.
So I opened this blog.
Not because I have everything figured out — but because I want to figure things out while writing.

What Made Me Start

Honestly, it wasn’t one big moment.
It’s the small things I notice almost daily:
People using the word “Spiritual Possession” instead of talking about actual mental health.
Girls being called “too emotional” like it’s something to be ashamed of.
Teachers rushing through topics without checking if anyone’s really learning.
Family arguments that end in silence and confusion.
And this overall idea that “you’re too young to say anything that matters.”
I started this blog because I needed space — space where I can say what I see, what I question, and what I’m learning without being told to wait till I’m older.

"I don’t know if anyone will care, or if this will even be read. But I’m writing anyway."

What This Blog Will Be Like

This isn’t a motivational blog.
I’m not here to give life lessons or pretend to be a role model.
I’ll just be writing what I wish someone had talked to me about:
1. 🧠 Brain science and what’s really going on in our heads
2. ⏳ Habit experiments — what works for me, what doesn’t
3. 💬 Mental health, especially in desi homes
4. 🧕🏽 Faith and identity
5. 🤯 Cultural beliefs we follow without questioning
6.📚 Thoughts from a teenager just trying to figure things out

Some days the posts will be short.
Some might just be questions.
Some may feel like pages from my own diary.
And that’s okay.

Why at 15?

Because this is the age when things start feeling real.
You feel the pressure.
You notice patterns.
You start questioning what you've been told since childhood.
Most people ignore those thoughts.
I don’t want to.
If I stay silent now, I’ll probably stay silent later too.
And I’m not okay with that.

If You’re Reading This

I’m not expecting a huge audience.
But if you’re here — even by accident — and something I write makes sense to you, then maybe this blog is more than just words on a page.
I don’t know where this will go. I just know I’ve started.
That’s enough for now.
